Mo Oliver was born in Seattle in 1951, and raised in a Quaker household, starting violin lessons at the age of 8. He learned a love of music, both Folk and Classical, which he continues to nurture in his students to this day. Mo studied violin with William Kostenbader in Kirkland, Washington, and later with Karl Koker of Seattle, with whom he also studied viola. "Mr. Mo", as he has become known to his students, has taught at Selkirk College in Grand Forks, B.C. but primarily at his own studios across Washington and Idaho. He pedagogical technique has been influenced by Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the Talent Education Method, and Howard Glasser's Nurtured Heart Approach. Mr. Mo has taught violin and other stringed instruments, including guitar and viola, for the last 27 years. Email Mo Oliver ![]()
