PRIVATE LESSONS:

     Private lessons are available for piano, voice, flute, recorder, violin,
     cello, oboe, guitar, trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba (all brass)
     & drums (drum set, hand drumming, auxiliary percussion).

     1/2 hour lessons:   $17.50
     1/2 hour lessons are recommended for ages 9 years and younger
    
     45 minute lessons:  $30

     1 hour lessons:       $35

  Little Mozart Program


     This program nurtures and develops musical skills in our children from
     the earliest age on.  It uses musical games and movement activities to
     teach basic pitch and rhythm skills.

     Ages:  Walking – 4 yrs
     Tuesdays, 10:00 - 10:45 am
     (class size 4-9 students)
     Tuition: 12 week session - $125.00


     What instrument is right for my child?
     This class helps make the decision and takes your child
     through three instruments (recorder, violin, piano) throughout the
     course of the semester. Basic note reading is part of the curriculum.

     Little Carousal, ages 3-5
     Mondays 3:30 pm - 4:20 pm
     Tuition: $175/semester

     Beginning Violin, ages 5-8
     Mondays 4:30 pm - 5:20 pm

GROUP LESSONS:

     Group lessons are available in violin, recorder, flute, voice, guitar and
     percussion.  Sibling discounts available.  Inquire about scholarship
     availability.

  Violin Group Lessons

     An engaging small group lesson where students get individual attention
     while learning to play in a small ensemble.
    
     Thursdays 3:30pm – 4:30 pm, Introduction to Violin, ages 6-8

     Tuesdays 4pm – 5pm, Level 1, ages 8-11

     Tuition: $105/semester (12 weeks) for students taking private lessons,
     $175/semester (12 weeks) for students taking this class only

  Recorder Group Lessons
    
     A fun and encouraging way to gain an understanding of the building
     blocks of music through learning the recorder.
    
     Ages: 6-10
     Mondays 3:30pm – 4:30 pm
     Tuesdays 4pm – 5pm
     Tuition: $145/semester (12 weeks)

  Guitar Group Lessons
   
     Mondays 4:30pm – 5:30pm      Tuition: $175/semester (12 weeks)

  Introduction to Voice Group Lessons

    
     Based on the principles of Bel Canto (Italian for beautiful singing) and
     introduces the basics of vocal technique appropriate for beginning
     level students.
    
     Mondays 5:30pm – 7:00pm

  Music Theory
    
     Introduction to Conducting

  String Ensemble
    
     The string ensemble is for the intermediate and advanced 
     string player.
    
     Wednesdays 3:30pm – 4:45pm
     Tuition: $105/semester (12 weeks)
     for students enrolled in private lessons

     for students enrolled only in the ensemble

  Children's Choir

    Mondays: 3:30pm – 4:30pm
    Ages 8 – 14

    Tuition: $25
    Pre-requisite: audition

Instructions are given in basic vocal technique such as proper breathing, posture, vowel formation, singing in parts and sight singing. Students will be introduced to the Italian Method of singing, the Vaccai.  Repertoire is chosen in various languages . The choir will have the opportunity to perform at local venues as well as join in with other choirs. The repertoire is mostly classical oriented but not exclusively. Students receive group instructions as well as solo instructions.


LATIN CLASSES:
***These classes get credit from the Forrest M. Bird Charter School, and are a year-long commitment. Payment is by semester. There may be extra classes or projects to meet the Charter School time requirements.***

  Intermediate Latin

DRAMA CLASSES:

  Shakespeare for Youth


     Ages  10 and up
     Tuesdays 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

  Musical Theater

Fall Semester:

This class offers skill building instructions for students age 8 and up in voice and movement. This class focuses on character development, scene selection and preparation of a small scale in-house performance. Instructions are given for group and solo.

Winter Semester:

This class offers more in depth instructions in voice, acting and movement. Scenes from one musical are selected and  prepared to be performed in community Theaters and in outreach programs. This class aims to prepare for a large scale performance at the end of the spring semester. Students receive instruction in their solo parts as well as their groups. Skills such as audition techniques and in depth character development are part of the skills taught.

    students are asked to enroll in winter and spring semester

 

Spring Semester

Students are preparing for a major performance based on the previous semester chosen musical. Instructions are given in solo and group performances, drama, movement, stage make-up, audition techniques.
